I'm so psyched to be a part of the LAB CAB FESTIVAL. Aviva Armour-Ostroff and Andre du Toit started this brilliant multi-media performance festival last year. THE FACTORY THEATRE will be 'Open' in a unique and exciting way. September 8th and 9th every nook and cranny of the theatre will be alive with entertainment. You can see actors and musicians up close and personal in backstage spaces, in hallways, lobby and bar areas and...in stairwells! In a mini-collection of tunes I call Steps to Melody, I will be singing A Capella in the Adelaide Staircase for 12 - 15 minutes on Saturday afternoon at 1:30pm. I really missed singing in harmony since my College days, so about 9 months ago I gave birth to the idea of an Andrews Sisters Trio. With the help of two amazing and very talented women - Shannon Butcher and Chantelle Wilson - I formed Swing Rosie. We've been busy! Clubs, corporate dates, fundraisers and TV appearances.... After an amazing show this summer, Shannon, Chantelle and I have been welcomed back to the REX for October. A very special evening is taking place at the I-Zone Lofts this night. Friends and fans of Kira have gathered to put together a fundraiser for me. I am enormously grateful to everyone for their support and inspiration. We'll have martinis, nibblies, the wonderful Judy Reynolds belly dancing, Magically Mental James Biss messing with your minds, and of course I will be singing jazz for you, accompanied by the talented Tom Van Seters from Vancouver. Tickets for this lovely evening are $50 and include complimentary everything, and terrific doorprizes. 7:30pm - 10:30pm. Last minute update - I've had a cold for about a week which I'd hoped would be better - unfortunately it's worsended and I'll be missing tonight's performance at Whistlers. However, I've found a wonderful replacement, so if you're on your way, fear not! Great jazz is to be had. And of course, I'll be back with bells on for next week. Ahhhhhh... the beautiful patio at Whistlers. This is the ultimate in summer indulgence. Well folks, I've sung myself into a corner! Besides all the events listed here, The Andrew Sisters' vocal trio SWING ROSIE that I founded with Shannon Butcher and Chantelle Wilson has been rehearsing and showcasing too... I must take a vocal-health break. I'm home this week, drinking pools of water, gargling and sleeping (not simultaneously), maybe transposing a chart or two and generally taking care of myself. So. I'm not singing Tuesday, April 15th at the REX, or Friday/Saturday April 18/19 at Sassafraz... but I'll be back swingin' next week. Happy Spring wishes to everyone!

Adrean, Chris and I had a great time playing. More beautiful jazz at Whistlers on Sunday the 23rd. Everyone was raving about the food, by the way. Yummy, reasonably-priced meals. Brrrrr... If you're at all like me and experiencing that 'winter-house-mushroom' syndrome, I highly recommend abit of socializing as an antidote. Hope to see you there.
